Anita's obituary
Anita Kay (Blevins) Harris September 14, 1957 – April 24, 2025
Anita Kay Harris (née Blevins), 67, of Cocoa, Florida, passed away on April 24, 2025, in Orlando, doing as she damn well pleased until the very end. Born September 14, 1957, Anita was a force of nature wrapped in bitchiness, grit, and an apron that probably had flour on it. She was a nurse and later an insurance agent—but let’s be honest, her real job was running the show. Whether at work, home, or in the middle of a family gathering where she reigned as queen of complaints and casseroles. She cooked like a five-star chef, could craft circles around anyone, and tore people new assholes when the moment called for it—which she felt was often. Anita didn’t just walk through life, she stomped through it with flair, fire, and absolutely zero tolerance for bullshit. She was the kind of woman who wasn’t afraid to roll in the dirt with her kids, grandkids, nieces, and nephews—literally. If there was a mess to be made or a memory to be created, Anita was in the thick of it. Anita didn’t just make memories, she made sure you remembered them. She made everyone feel welcome, mostly by criticizing them mercilessly and then feeding them like royalty.
She was a fiercely devoted wife to her husband, Roy: a man she loved deeply, and decimated without mercy. She spent decades “putting up with his bullshit,” correcting him, and reminding him—loudly—when he was wrong (which, again, she felt was often). Their marriage was sometimes less “storybook” and more “war story,” but it was theirs, and it was unbreakable. They loved like it was survival. Anita was a momma bear for not only her three children, Jesse, Jason and Candice but their spouses her grandchildren as well, down to threatening a seven-year-old at a basketball game if it meant protecting her loved one.
She loved her animals like they were her kids (some might argue- accurately- that she loved them more on certain days), and her home was equal parts sanctuary, jungle, and creative explosion thanks to her talents in quilting, scrapbooking, and general artistic mischief.
Anita was preceded in death by her father (Tony), mother (Nina), and brother (Tony Jr.). Anita leaves behind her husband (Roy) and three beloved children, Jesse A. Baker (Teresa), Jason M. Baker (Tommi), and Candice N. Harder (Jeffrey) as well as nine adoring grandchildren, Brandon, Alivia, Sam, Jason, Hannah, Ella, Brady, Beckett and Charlie, all of whom inherited some level of her stubbornness, wit, and talent—God help them. In her wake is a legacy of love, laughter, brutal honesty, questionable advice, and emotional scars from which we’re never likely to recover. What a fabulous bitch!
