We did so much together, I'm not sure. I think my fondest memories are just of us at my house during summer vacation, hanging out with Vic, Tony... and others as they passed through the neighborhood and the years. We'd play monopoly, have jumping jack wars, write stupid songs, sing as we walked around the neighborhood (we talked Tony into go Christmas caroling with us one December), created a silly 'club', feminized the boy's clubhouse when they declared no girls allowed, danced in my room, threw a couple of 'parties' for no reason at all, decorate up my yard as a graveyard EVERY Halloween, baked Tony a cake for his 13th birthday and made him a video of us doing stupid skits.

This picture makes me think about how Angela and I were opposite in so many ways but we both had open minds and learned from each other and grew to appreciate (and adopt) the ways of the other. When we first met, I listened pretty much only to country music. She listened to the popular 'top 40' music but NEVER country. We both ended up adopting each other's music plus she introduced me to musicals, such as CATS and Labyrinth. I'm not sure how many musicals we ended up discovering together and how many she brought to me, but I'm sure my interest in acting and musicals are a direct result of my friendship with her. This picture makes me think of our original differences because of how we are dressed. This was the middle of summer, it was HOT! But when I first met Angela, she was so self- conscious of scars on her legs from a childhood bout with impetigo that she NEVER wore shorts. Honestly, I never would have noticed the scars without her pointing them out and I didn't think anyone else would either; but beyond that, I spent quite a while trying to convince her that the opinion of others did not matter. I figured if someone was shallow enough to make fun of someone over something like that, they certainly were not people worthy of being in my life and did not matter. I think she finally learned that lesson as I did finally convince her to dress more comfortably according to the weather.

This is a picture that goes along with my "most fun" memory. This was the best of times! Summer, hanging out at my house. Tony was the best at going along with whatever Angela and I wanted to do, no matter how nerdy or geeky or stupid other kids may have perceived it... possibly because he was the youngest and hadn't yet hit that need to act all macho or cool. Thus, he ended up spending more time with us. We would lip sync to songs (we loved him 'performing' "great balls of fire") and dance with us to the golden oldies. Once we were playing war with several others and the three of us were on one 'team', the other side (I recall Vic and David were members of the opposing side) had captured Tony and taken him as a prisoner of war & imprisoned him in David's basement. Angela & I went to recue our teammate & accidentally broke David's basement door. We were pretty scared because my mother had nicknamed David's stepdad 'the neanderthal' for a reason (huge, strong, not particularly intellectual). War was over after that. LOL. I officiated a pretend wedding between Angela and one of the guys... (I don't recall if it was Tony or Charles at this point) using a napkin for a wedding ring??? It's questionable whether I was a good influence on her or not. She wasn't very assertive when we first met & I remember coaching her on being more aggressive when the situation deemed it (I was used to running with the guys, she was new to this). I felt it a huge victory when during a jumping jack war, David set a firecracker off too close to Angela's ear (with her hearing issues, this was a major transgression) and she got angry and shoved him  and really let him know how she felt about it.
