Andri's obituary

Andri Loretta White (Royster), age 69, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2025, after courageously battling cancer.

Andri was born on June 23, 1956, in Washington, D.C., to Hilda Boxley-Lampkins and Arthur Lee Royster. She grew up surrounded by love and laughter with her siblings, the late Willie Royster, Ruth Hackney, and Lynn Miller, and carried those family values of faith, strength, and compassion throughout her life.

During her early childhood, Andri moved with her family to Clarksville, Virginia, where she attended Mecklenburg County Public Schools. It was during this time that she joined Wharton Memorial Church, becoming an active and dedicated member whose bright spirit was felt by all. After her mother’s remarriage to the late George “Byrd” Lampkins, the family returned to Washington, D.C., where Andri continued her education in D.C. Public Schools. She later graduated proudly from H.D. Woodson High School.

In June 1980, Andri married the love of her life, Ronald White, and together they built a beautiful life centered around faith, family, and community. They raised two devoted sons, Jahmal and Eric, and she cherished her role as a mother and grandmother. Her granddaughter, Korina White, was one of her greatest joys. Andri and Ron’s home was always a gathering place for loved ones, filled with warmth, encouragement, and laughter.

Andri was a lifelong learner and an extraordinary example of perseverance and achievement. She earned two master’s degrees from the University of Maryland and a Doctorate from National Graduate School, accomplishments that reflected her deep commitment to education and personal growth. She devoted her life’s work to developing and educating others, where she was admired for her dedication, wisdom, and integrity.

Her faith was the cornerstone of her life. A devoted member of Redeemer Baptist Church since 1980, Andri lived out her beliefs through service, kindness, and unwavering love for others. She found joy in simple pleasures, playing cards, shopping, and traveling, and approached each day with gratitude and grace.

Andri will be deeply missed and forever loved. Her journey—marked by devotion to family, quiet perseverance, and a gentle spirit—leaves an enduring imprint on all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She leaves behind her loving mother, Hilda Lampkins; her sons, Jahmal (Keri) and Eric (Michelle); her sisters, Ruth Hackney (Jerry) and Aretha Lynn Miller (Steve); and her beloved granddaughter, Korina White.

Her memory will also be carried forward by her nieces: Kimberly Sims (Mike), Rachael Royster, Lyrian Miller, and Zoe Hackney; and by her nephews: Isaac Royster (Aspen), Quinnis Miller, Bryden Miller, and Jerome Hackney. She is also remembered by her great-nephews, Silas and Daren, and her great-niece, Kimmya.

She is survived as well by loving relatives on both sides of her family. On her father’s side, she leaves her aunt Charlotte Bowman (Robert). On her mother’s side, she is survived by Aunt Queen Roberts, Aunt Anna Wray Wilkerson, and Uncle James “Billy” Boxley (Deloris).

Andri was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald White, and her brother, Willie Royster.

In addition to her immediate family, Andri is survived by a host of relatives, her Redeemer Church family, and many dear friends who will forever cherish her warmth, humor, and unwavering love.

“Well done, good and faithful servant.” – Matthew 25:23
