Andrew's obituary
On June 27th, 2024, the world lost a good soul with the passing of Andrew Vahey, beloved son, sibling, and friend, whose departure at 24, has left a profound void in many lives. His intellectual curiosity and playful spirit touched everyone. Drew approached life with a philosophical depth that was unusual for someone so young. He constantly pondered the mysteries of existence, engaging people in deep conversations that challenged conventional thinking. His insights and questions kept him devouring books and podcasts. A caring and protective person, he adored animals and found immeasurable joy in the company of his tegu, Sammy. His Spotify playlist (a diverse variety from metal to meditative music) could shake the walls or lower your blood pressure. He loved riding his bike for insanely long stretches and came close to completing his own float tank oasis in his basement. Drew loved the autonomy of his job at Accu-Bend where he calculated angles and problem solved to operate machines that bent metal for all sorts of purposes.
Drew will be remembered for his cleverness, his silly sense of humor, and his loyalty to those he held dear.
Drew’s mother, Joette Vahey, will celebrate his life with a casual party- sharing cherished memories, his favorite foods, and the levity he would prefer us to embrace. You are invited to the Waterfront Lodge at Abraham Lincoln Park, 500 Smith Rd., Webster, NY 14580 at 6:15PM on Monday, August 12, 2024. The family asks that you come wearing a funny graphic T-shirt. Donations towards a memorial bench would be appreciated. Rest in peace, Drew Vahey. Your love for lizards, Guitar Hero, cars from the 90s, metal music, and practical jokes will forever be in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing you.
