This comes from Katie Bogey:

“Andy, you are greatly missed. Praying for your family. I will always remember your amazing singing voice, your sense of humor and your kind heart. You are embedded in many of my best high school memories. Rest In Peace.”

I remember the first time when Andy auditioned for the A Cappella Choir. He was in the ninth grade and I couldn’t believe what a wonderful, rich baritone voice he had at such a young age. Not only did Andy sing in the JHS A Cappella Choir but also in the Madrigal Singers, Men of Tomorrow ensemble, my First Lutheran and Zion Covenant choirs and a youth quartet at First Lutheran! He competed at the grade 6 level NYSSMA Solo Festivals for voice consistently receiving superior ratings allowing him to sing All State Choirs throughout his high school career. I was proud of Andy for being such a genuinely fine and caring human being. Peace be to his memory!
LeAnn Love sent me this memory of Andy:  "David's first year in a JHS Musical was "The Scarlett Pimpernel."  The newest boys had some trouble putting on their tights, but Andy helped them through the process, after which they all began signing "Men in Tights", a Monty Python song, they became more than cast members that day, they became friends."

Andrew and I actually met during a project in grad school. He was a year ahead so he finished up and went off to DC to start his new job. He left behind extremely high standards, every professor, every student had nothing but good things to say about him. When I graduated I also moved to DC and needed a place to stay while I waited for my lease to begin. Andrew graciously let me stay at his place and that is where our friend ship began. We became such good friends so quickly even as I moved to the other end of the country. I never saw Andrew without a smile on his face, he was always so giving to friends and to strangers but he never asked for a thing in return. Looking back, I only wish he had asked me (or anyone) for help. A good soul, taken too soon from a world he wanted to make better.

Andrew and twin sister Ashley...just a few months old. Looking at picture, Andrew is on the left
I was so proud of my son. He had just a silliness about him, Goofy and of course at times serious but he was amazing in his theatrical and his voice. There was really the first time that my husband and I had heard our son singing it was at the first year Andrew was in vespers /acapella choir and we went to the performance and we looked at each other and we thought oh my God is that coming from our son's mouth. He made us so proud. Whenever he was in a musical of any kind my husband and I would buy tickets for the Friday night and the Saturday night viewing.
My heart breaks for Andy's family and friends. He was a shining star gone too soon.  It was my privilege to know him and to work with him on theatrical endeavors.  The one thing I know about Andy is: not only did I  love him (and still do), but I know that he loved me.  Thank you for the incredible memories, Andy.  I just wish that we had many more years of memories to share.
Whenever I hear Josh Groban sing, it reminds me of Andy.
