Cookie's obituary
Andrea “Cookie” Gier, 72, of Elwood, Illinois, passed peacefully on December 8, 2025, at JourneyCare in Barrington, surrounded by her daughters and sons-in-law.
A devoted homemaker and longtime kindergarten teacher’s aide at Anna McDonald School, Cookie retired to the best job she ever had: Gramma.
On their cozy half-acre in Elwood, she and Jeff turned summer into magic. Days were spent poolside with the grandkids living on popsicles and “junkie juice” while Cookie supervised from her pool chair.
Evenings meant date nights “at the boat”—casino lights, piles of crab legs, a little gambling, and a lot of hand-holding. Whenever NASCAR was on, the TV was loud, the snacks were close, and Cookie was cheering hardest for Dale Earnhardt and later Dale Jr. If she could get to the track with company, even better.
Her seven grandchildren—Zoe Jane (15), Jewel (13), Pilar (11), Cristiano (9), Milagrosa (7), Louella (5) and Thiago (4) - were the center of her world, spoiled daily with love, little gifts, and extra pool toys.
Preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Jeff, brother Anthony, and her dog Annie.
She is survived by daughters Sarah (Toribio) and Rebecca (Brandon), her seven grandchildren, and a wide circle of family and friends who will miss her laugh and company.
In keeping with Cookie’s wishes, no public services will be held. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to P.A.W.S of Tinley Park and share a favorite memory or photo in the online guestbook, she’d love that.
Right now she’s poolside with Jeff, cracking crab legs, cheering for in her favorite drivers and saving us all the best seats.
