Andre's obituary
We mourn the loss of Andre "Good Day Dre" Mingo, who passed away on June 11, 2024. Born on August 6, 1950, Andre, also known as Good Day Dre, led a purposeful life, touching the lives of many with his wit, bluntness, reflective nature, stubbornness, and boundless love.
Andre is survived by his sister, Evonne Nemes, and his brothers, Greg and Paul Mingo. His community fondly remember his distinctive personality and the unique way he shaped their lives. Andre's favorite music, from artists like Snoop Dogg and Luther Vandross to genres like R&B, still echoes in their minds, reminding them of his vibrant life. He took joy in watching crime shows and spending time in Harlem, his favorite local spot to get the best food, especially ox tail.
He also had a special fondness for Alcoholics Anonymous, where he was a regular attendee. Andre was proud to be a member and often expressed his love for the community. He believed strongly in the mission of Alcoholics Anonymous and continuously advocated for it within the community.
One of Andre's most significant achievements was his sobriety journey. He managed to maintain an impressive 30+ years of sobriety, a feat he was incredibly proud of. He credited this accomplishment to his philosophy of positive repetition and constant contact with his higher power, a lesson he shared with many. His favorite color, blue, often symbolized his stance on life - like the ocean, anchored with a serene flow yet full of depth and chaos.
In lieu of flowers, Andre would have appreciated donations to the American Cancer Society, an organization that continues to fight for a cure. Donations can be made at the following URL: https://everloved.com/life-of… .

As we grieve his departure, we celebrate his life and the wisdom he imparted. Andre is greatly missed by his friends, community and family, and his spirit will live on in our hearts forever.
