I remember the first day of school when I walked into Mr. Duncan’s classroom. The first thing we started with was not the usual classroom procedures. Instead, we moved our chairs into a circle, with Mr. Duncan in the center, as he explained that his classroom was a safe space. He told us he would always be there to listen and help us with our problems, which he once shared was one of his passions behind becoming a teacher. Mr. Duncan always wanted to help his students follow their dreams. He would ask each of us what we wanted to do and then help us find appropriate opportunities to pursue those goals.

I believe that Mr. Duncan was more than an educator—he was a mentor, a confidant, and a source of unwavering support. He genuinely cared about each of his students, not just for their academic success but also for their personal growth and happiness. His loss will be profound and will affect many people with his absence, leaving a void in the lives of those he inspired and supported. His kindness, wisdom, and unwavering belief in his students made him a beacon of hope and encouragement. Though he may no longer be with us, the impact he had on our lives will live on, reminding us to strive for our dreams and to support others as he did. Mr. Duncan’s legacy will forever be a testament to the power of compassion and dedication.

To his family: I wish you didn’t have to go through such a heartbreaking and sudden loss. I can’t begin to imagine the pain you’re feeling, and I wouldn’t wish this on anyone. Mr. Duncan’s kindness and impact reached so many lives, and it’s clear how much he was loved and appreciated. Please know that you’re in my thoughts, and I hope you find strength in the memories you shared with him. I truly hope, in time, you can heal and find peace, knowing the legacy he left behind will continue to inspire and uplift everyone who knew him.

To Mr. Duncan’s Family,

I’m truly sorry for your loss. Mr. Duncan wasn’t just an amazing teacher—he was my best friend and someone who had a huge impact on my life. He was the kind of person who made every day better, whether it was with his wisdom, his humor, or just the way he cared about everyone around him. He believed in me even when I didn’t believe in myself, and that’s something I’ll never forget.

He wasn’t just a teacher to me. He was someone I could always count on and look up to. He made such a difference in my life and in the lives of so many others. It’s hard to imagine not having him around. I’ll carry the lessons he taught me and the kindness he showed me forever.

You’re in my thoughts, and I hope you can find some comfort in knowing how much he meant to so many people.

Sincerely,

Anthony
