Amy Ensminger, my wife, my best friend, my high school sweetheart put on her angel’s wings on 10/25/2020. After a two-year battle with colon cancer, Amy won that battle by never giving up, and by living life to the fullest, with joy, until the very end. I met Amy when I was 16 years old and she has been the best part of my life for 25 years. She radiated a light like no other. She was the life of the party, the extrovert to my introvert.

Amy loved her sons, Jackson and Aiden, more than anything. Always sacrificing to make sure they were cared for. The gospel and Savior were central in Amy’s life and it was evident by her Christlike love and service for others. She will be remembered by her big smile, her sense of humor, her funny songs, and especially her funny social media videos. I love her so much and I will miss her every day, but her legacy will live on through the man that I’ve become by knowing and supporting her during the 25 years that she was in my life, and the 2 years that she gracefully and courageously battled cancer.

The daughter of Bruce and Jane Jefferies, Amy was born in Cary, Illinois and grew up in Draper, Utah. Amy attended Alta high school in Sandy, Utah and after graduation spent a year attending BYU-Hawaii, where she first developed her love of the Hawaiian Islands. Later she attended the University of Utah and earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

On July 18, 2001 Amy married her high school sweet heart, Ryan, in the Salt Lake City Temple, sealed for time and eternity. Amy worked as a nurse until her oldest son Jackson was born, after which she stayed in the home full time to care for her sons. Amy’s ultimate goal was to be a stay at home mom and she navigated those challenges with grace. Amy faced the trial of cancer with faith, hope, and happiness. She was the favorite patient among the chemotherapy nurses, and famous for her funny videos, songs, and dances she would do during chemo. During all this time, Amy never lost her light and continued to smile no matter what. Because of her love of Hawaii, Amy adopted the phrase “Live Aloha,” which perfectly describes her positive approach to life and her unconditional love for others.

Amy is survived by her husband, Ryan, sons Jackson and Aiden, and many family and friends who will let her legacy live on through their memories of her. Amy will be greatly missed, but she is with her Savior and we can’t wait to see her again. Families are forever.

A funeral will be held in her honor at the Sandy Hidden Valley Stake Center (1450 Raddon Dr., Sandy, UT 84092) on 10/31/2020. Viewing from 10:30 am-11:45 am with a funeral starting at 12:00 pm. Amy will be laid to rest at the Larkin Sunset Garden cemetery.
