Amy's obituary
Amy J. Arsenault
Amy was born to Bertin “Ted” and Joy (Merkling) Arsenault on November 28, 1964, joining her four older siblings. She attended St. Charles Grade School, Shadle Park High School, and graduated from WSU with a bachelor’s degree in animal science. While living in Seattle, she began participating in Kendo, and travelled to Japan to further her knowledge.
Amy’s love of animals, both big and small, was life-long. She worked at a goat farm on Lopez Island at one point after college, and volunteered at the Woodland Park Zoo. After living in Green Lake with her chicken (Henrietta), duck (Duck Duck), dogs, and a red tailed hawk, she spent many years living in Issaquah with her pig (Oliver), chickens, and a myriad of other animals. She worked most of her adult life in logistics in order to support her animals (often sacrificing her own needs for her animals), and her last job was with the University of Arizona. She moved from Issaquah, WA to Tucson, AZ in 2021. She passed away in Tucson on March 6, 2025, after a valiant fight with sarcoidosis.
Amy was well known for her sense of humor, even as a young child. It could be said that her exploits were legendary. She had the innate ability to make anyone laugh, usually to the point of tears. Nothing was too much for her, no antic a challenge too far.
Amy is survived by her older siblings Mary (Jim) Buckham, Mark Arsenault, Lisa Arsenault, and Jeff Arsenault, her younger half-brother Neil Arsenault, and numerous nephews and nieces. Her mother and father predeceased her, as did her second mom, Carol Hirschel. She left behind her close friends Erich and Rebecca (Hirschel) Prahl, Joyce (Butler) Kjorsvik, and of course her last beloved dogs, Charlie and Goldie.
The world is just a bit dimmer without Amy in it.
A graveside service will be held on November 1, 2025 at 2:30 p.m. at Latah Municipal Cemetery 20109 E Knight Rd Latah WA. Donations in her name should be made to your favorite animal rescue.
