We are all deeply saddened by the passing of Sami. She was not only my work colleague but also a close dear friend to me.
Sami had a special gift for expressing deep emotion and connecting with others as a source of energy and inspiration to all.
I would like to share a special poem that Sami wrote for me after she learned of my father’s passing that help give me strength and great comfort during a difficult time. I hope that it will give you the same comfort and peace.
Like the peel of a banana or an orange, biodegradable, dissolves into the earth to become a part of it eternally, I will remain..
Like the wind, without a beginning or an end, I will remain..
Like the depth of the ocean and the flow of the endless waves, I will remain..
Like the smile of a baby so innocent and so pure, priceless and preciously everlasting impact on the hearts, I will remain.
Like the sun shining on the blossoming flowers, vitalizing them with lasting fragrance that refreshes the depth of the souls, I will remain..
She ended the poem with this comment:
Our parents are part of us and we are theirs, they never leave us!
I was there in 1991 when my Dad passed away at the age of 68 with stomach cancer and I wrote and sang a poem for him, we were all so sad but every time I look in the mirror or say something or do something, I hear or see my parents in me so that is very comforting.
It will get a little easier with time.
I am glad you are all together. -Sami
