How does one capture a lifetime of memories about an endearing man in a few words? It's impossible!! Alvin was always THERE...solid, faithful, thoughtful, quietly and capably intelligent, loving, generous, funny, self-deprecating, and the most accepting brother and brother-in-law ever!!

He was fun to be with; if you found that Alvin and Carol were sitting near you at a gathering, your day was instantly brighter. You knew that conversation would be lively and entertaining.

Alvin had wonderful advice. When I told him that I write reminders and paste a list on the exit doorjamb, Alvin said, "I might miss a posted note. I put my list on the floor so I step on it on the way out!!"

We've been mostly separated by an ocean. However, we thank Carol for being such a great wife and for making their almost annual trips to Hawaii possible. Carol and Alvin were a devoted couple who together will always love Sharon, Tom, and Alvin's "frosting of life", Vivienne.

Thank you, Alvin, for being a part of our lives. Our family will never be the same without you. We will miss and love you forever!!
Love, Kathy [& Mike]
Sharon and Aunty Carol — it pained me to hear of Uncle Alvin's passing. We've always had an ocean between us, but I always loved seeing you folks whenever you had a chance to make it back to Hawaii. There's 3 things that really stick out in my mind... cutting through an empty lot in Kaneohe to go fish for papio, in his words, "cast and reel it back in. they like to have something to chase"; that crazy flash he used to have on his old film camera, it was like a metal fan with the blades that folded up; and his wacky but subtle humors. I will miss him greatly.
Uncle Alvin was a quiet listener. His intelligence and humor were best in smiles over great food and conversation. Many memories of him will be graced by strong women willing to prove his life was well lived. Be at peace and spirit free, Uncle Alvin. Aloha pumehana, Kyle, Donnie, Alika, and Andrew.

Uncle Alvin and the Crab pot
Uncle Alvin always had a knack for making me laugh. I absolutely loved his sense of humor and omg Uncle Alvin could eat! I’ll always remember Crab pot. When he said he wasn’t that hungry and he ate everything plus dessert while the rest of us had thrown in the towel. Uncle Alvin you will always be in my heart and greatly missed.
Dear Family of Alvin Young,
We enjoyed our long friendship with Alvin and all the fun times going on fishing outings and then eating the wonderful fish which Alvin prepared on the grill....Alvin had such a dry sense of humor we never knew what he was up too next! We will miss him for sure. John and Judy
Aunty Carol and Sharon and Vivienne,
We are so sorry to hear about Uncle Alvin's passing. He was such a gentle person and had a wonderful dry sense of humor. We hope that as the days pass, the pain of losing him will ease somewhat and the happy memories will remain. Take care of yourselves and know that we are thinking about you . Love-- Stella, Glen, and Darren
