Obituary for Dr. Alvin Stein

Dr. Alvin Stein, a beloved father, devoted husband, renowned medical specialist, and talented artist, passed away on October 24, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on July 11, 1936, Alvin was the son of Morris and Dorothy Stein.

🩺 A Compassionate Medical Career

Alvin dedicated his life to caring for others as an exceptional physician. He graduated from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1961 and completed his fellowship at Bellevue Hospital Center in 1965. As an oncology specialist in Long Island, Al was known for his gentle and kind approach, taking loving and dedicated care of his patients throughout his career.

Even in his later years, Al continued to serve his community, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to medicine. He worked as a substitute small-town doctor, a Suboxone provider, and a trusted Medicare expert, ensuring vital care reached those who needed it most.

🎨 Man of Arts and Interests

Beyond his medical profession, Al possessed a rich life filled with passions and talents. He was a gifted artist who particularly excelled in calligraphy. People were often astounded that a doctor had such gorgeous handwriting.

Al's love for music spanned generations; he was an enthusiastic listener of both classical music and The Beatles. He also enjoyed the thrill of the chase, finding joy in bargain hunting.

Alvin was preceded in death by his first wife, Arlene Cohen, and their dear son, David Jonathan.

He is survived by his  second wife, Debbie Lomasky, and their sons, Jordan and Evan.

He is also survived by his daughters from his first marriage to Arlene, Elissa and Erica Lynn.

Al was loved by all his family and always will be, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, intellect, and profound kindness.
