Some of my fondest childhood memories are because of Mr. Yost. I can remember how welcoming and kind he was the first time I got to go to Jenny’s house.
One time, he brought his hot air balloon to our school and showed everyone how it worked. I was so intrigued. I can remember it out in the field.
I remember the time I got to go with Jenny, Mr Yost, and family to one of the Hot Air Balloon Events (I forgot what it was called). There, I saw how the they competed to get a bag (?) on the X from their balloons (?). There were airplanes too. At one of the events, Mr Yost brought me up in his balloon! It was so thrilling for me and I can remember how you could see the corn rows from the sky like I had seen on TV. I recall how when we descended to land, it was in a field and he kept saying, “Make sure you keep your knees bent when we land, so they don’t lock up and break.” It was a rough landing, but about 40 years later, this is one of my GREATEST memories of all!
Your kindest will never be forgotten, Mr Yost! Thank you for the memories!
