Allen's obituary
Allen Meadows, 84, of Lowndesboro, Alabama passed away peacefully on February 18th, 2022, surrounded by his family and loved ones. Allen grew up in Selma, Alabama. After leaving Auburn University, He worked as a farmer, raising hogs, chickens, cattle, and hay. Allen will be dearly missed and always remembered. He was predeceased by granddaughter Crystal, Mother Ruth, and Father Chapman. He is survived by his beloved wife Lois Casden Meadows, son McCain Robinson Meadows, son Henry Crumpton Hewlett, son Dr. Stanley Hewlett, daughter Laura Hewlett Tanveer, daughter-in-law Jennifer Meadows, and adored grandchildren, Ware Robinson Meadows, Walker Chapman Meadows, DeMonia Marie Tew, Safiya Haque, Faris Haque, Saif Haque, Amelia Haque, Annabeth Hewlett, Casden Hewlett, and Hamilton Hewlett.
A man Of The Earth; Allen combined many talents. He loved playing country songs on the guitar;singing and entertaining his friends. He grew up at the height of Hank Williams' popularity; LonesomeBlues and I see The Light were two of his favotites. He was also a devotee of Jimmy Rogers, often playing and singing Waiting for A Train. He was highly intelligent, a gifted story teller and jokester. He started farming after leaving Auburn University in 1958. He raised hogs, chickens, cattle and hay. He loved the land, hunting and fishing between farm duties. Furthering the beef industry in Alabama, He served on the Lowndes County Cattlemen Association and was a member of the Board of Directors. He specialized in raising Charlais and Simmental bulls. He built the biggest hay barn in Lowndesboro within two days in order to store and also sell hay.
A memorial service to celebrate his beautiful life will be held on March 13, 2022 at 2:00 PM at the Lowndesboro Baptist Church. We request all of Allen's friends and loved ones to join us in celebrating his beautiful life.
