Allan's obituary
Allan Eugene James Sr, 80, of Lakeside, AZ passed away on June 4th, 2023. He was born January 31, 1943, to Ruby and Mose James in Lubbock, TX.
Allan, a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, and grandfather is survived by his wife, Vicki; children, Mark, Lizz, Cindy, and Allan Jr; brother Dennis; grandchildren Angelo, Kierstyn, Ryan, Haley, Ellie, and Alexa; great grandchildren Grecia and Gabriel; and his faithful dog, Max. Allan was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Linda.
Upon graduation from Monterey High School in Lubbock, TX, Allan joined the Navy and was stationed in Norfolk, VA and sailed on the USS Newport News. Upon leaving the military, Allan met his first wife, Cathy Huggins and moved to Casa Grande, AZ. Allan worked at Hexcel Corporation, ran a towing service, and worked various other jobs while also enjoying stock car racing on the local tracks. During this time, Allan and Cathy welcomed their two children Mark and Lizz before divorcing. They continued to share a love for cars and remained friends until Cathy’s passing.
In 1975, Allan was introduced to his second wife Vicki. The two were married a short time later in August of 1975. Allan and Vicki lived in Casa Grande until 1981, when they moved to Show Low, AZ. Together, they had two children, Cindy and Allan Jr. Allan had a long career in car sales at the Ford dealership in Show Low. In 2000 Allan retired, but never stopped working, taking on various jobs, and volunteering at the hospital in Show Low. Allan finally decided to stop working for the last few years of his life, and enjoyed time with family while living in Goodyear, AZ.
Allan had a warm smile and personality that could turn a stranger into a friend no matter the situation. He was a man of many stories, and loved telling them to anyone that would listen, most involving his love for classic cars, all kinds of racing, hunting and fishing.
Allan was a truly great man whose impact will be forever felt by his family, that loves him dearly. He was a selfless man whose passing left an unfillable gap in the hearts of his loved ones. His ability to sacrifice, provide, support, forgive, and love will be forever engrained in all he knew.
A celebration of life and honorary lunch will take place at 11 a.m. on June 24 at Grace Fellowship Church, 6500 S Miller Rd, Buckeye, AZ. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of the Valley.
