Alicia's obituary
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Alicia Sanders, who departed this life on December 10, 2024, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, just shy of her 65th birthday. Alicia was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who brought love and joy to all who knew her.
Born on December 21, 1959, to Thomas "Boots" Hubble Sr. and Dolores Hubble, Alicia grew up alongside her siblings, Thomas Hubble and Priscilla Dejohn. On July 4, 1988, she married the love of her life, Gary Dale Sanders. Together, they built a family filled with love and laughter. Alicia was the proud mother of Coker Brandon Sanders, her only biological child, and lovingly embraced Gary’s three children—Jennifer McManus, Jacqueline Stubbs, and John David Sanders—as her own. She was also the cherished grandmother of Malakai James Sanders.
Alicia was a gifted artist whose talents shone through her painting and stained glass creations. Her studio was her sanctuary, where she poured her heart into crafting beautiful works of art that inspired those around her. Her creative spirit knew no bounds, and she found immense joy in exploring new projects that reflected her passion for beauty and expression.
Despite a courageous battle with lung cancer, Alicia faced each day with determination and an open heart. Her wit, infectious laughter, and steadfast spirit remained unshaken even during life’s toughest moments. She lived with a strength and resilience that reflected her deep understanding of what truly mattered.
A service to honor Alicia’s life will be held on December 21, 2024—what would have been her 65th birthday—at Zoar Baptist Church in Building D (in the back). Visitation will take place from 10 a.m. until noon, followed by a service at noon. A meal will be served in the fellowship hall afterward.
Alicia’s presence will be profoundly missed, but her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her. May she rest in peace.
