Alice's obituary

Alice Delores Veilleux (Janson)passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 24, 2024, surrounded by her family in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Saint Anthony Catholic Church, 820 Marcum Road, Lakeland, Florida 33809, followed by the niche-side blessing and inurnment service at Lakeland Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 2125 Bartow Road, Lakeland, Florida 33801.

Alice was born in Concord, Vermont on May 11, 1935, to Anna and  Louis P. Janson. She spent her formative years in Vermont, later moving to Connecticut. In 1953, she married the love of her life, Alzire Veilleux. Their beautiful love story was second to none. They were blessed with four daughters who were all raised in Bristol, Connecticut. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and Godmother. After their children were grown, Alzire and Alice moved to Lakeland, Florida to enjoy their retirement. They spent many wonderful years there, welcoming their children, grandchildren, and many other relatives to their home.

Alice will be remembered for her kind nature, famous cookies, phone calls singing “Happy Birthday” to her family, and her Catholic faith. Her strong belief in the power of prayer followed her throughout her life and her family and friends often asked Alice to pray for them, believing that she had a close relationship with God.

Alice is preceded in death by her husband, Alzire, and her brothers, Paul, Gerald, and Maurice Janson, and sisters, Flora Hebert, Aurora Raboin, and Jane Raboin.

Alice is survived by her daughters, Susan Macchiarella (Joe), Carol Laundon (Tom), Joanne Neuman (Jack) and Janice Brooks; her grandchildren, Daniella, Albert, Bianca (Kristen), Emma (Daniel), and Jake, as well as bonus grandchildren, Nicole (Michael) and John; and great grandchild, Isabella as well as bonus great grandchildren, Emmett and Hazel. Her Goddaughters, Patty and Doreen, also shared a very special bond with their Aunt Alice. She is also fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, contributions are encouraged to The Alzheimer’s Association, 225 North Michigan Avenue 417, Chicago, Illinois 60601 (Alz.org) or Saint Anthony Catholic Church, 820 Marcum Road, Lakeland, Florida 33809. The family of Alice wish to extend their sincere thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at Arbor Oaks at Greenacres, Greenacres, Florida, Lourdes Noreen McKeen, West Palm Beach, Florida, and Trustbridge – Care Center at Charles W. Gerstenberg Hospice Center, West Palm Beach, Florida. A special thank you to Mary and Jose Olmeda for their tireless devotion to caring for Alice while she was still in her Lakeland home.
