Alex's obituary

Our beloved Alexander Hing Huen Li,李慶煊先生, passed peacefully to be with His Savior on Saturday, March 5, 2022.

Alex was born on November 17, 1938 in Hong Kong, China. He came to the United States for university studies, spent four years on the other side of the world from his sweetheart, and they were married within days of Helen's arrival in the United States.  Alex was a long time resident of Madison, WI (1969-2021). He and his wife recently retired and sold their WI home in order to share more time with their children and grandchildren in Sanford, FL and Minneapolis, MN.

Alex is survived by his wife of 54 years, Helen W Li; Son, James Li (James Sang Lee) of Sanford, FL, Daughter-in-Law Jennie Z Li, Grandson Jadon, Grand-daughters Jamie and Jessie; Daughter, Helena Pikus Li of Minneapolis, MN, Son-in-Law Chris Pikus, Grandson Zachary; Sister Ruth Cheung of Toronto, Canada, Brother-in-Law (Jimmy Cheung); Brother Bill Lee of Burlington, Canada, Sister-in-Law (Loretta); Sister-in-Law Delphina Lee of Calgary, Canada; Brother-in-Law Edmund Kwan of Toronto, Canada and many nephews and nieces in Canada.

Alex graduated in Teachers Training College in Hong Kong, and taught for five years in Hong Kong. He studied on a full scholarship and received his BS in Biology from Albright College, Reading PA, and received his MS in Zoology from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, WI.

Alex was an independent business owner for over 40 years. In his part time, he worked for Blackhawk Technical College, Janesville, WI. He organized and led over fifteen China Study Tour to various cities in China for 17 campuses of the Wisconsin Technical College system, and for Mount Mary College, Milwaukee, Wisconsin over a span of 10 years. He also taught classes in International Business for Concordia University Madison.

Alex loved to travel, and especially enjoyed cruises to the Caribbean, Panama Canal, Alaska, Atlantic, and the Mediterranean.
