Alexander's obituary
Alexander Gregoret passed away unexpectedly from pneumonia at his home on February 15, 2025. Alex, known as Sandy when he was young, was born in 1970. His intelligence was obvious from a very young age. He was a member of the High School Bowl team at St. Paul Academy, and graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in chemistry. Alex worked as a chemist in the medical device field, and later as an independent European car technician. From 2016 through 2022, he was the primary caregiver for his mom.
Alex was introduced to sailing by his dad as a toddler, and was soon hooked. He enjoyed many outings on Lake Pepin with friends. Alex was captivated by meteorology. He was also a great cook and could be relied upon to know about the best new restaurants in St. Paul.
Apart from brief residencies in Scotland, Florida, and Minneapolis, Alex was a proud, lifelong resident of St. Paul, Minnesota, and lived across the street from his parents where he grew up. He was fond of his community of supportive and cooperative neighbors. Alex was preceded in death by his parents, Oleh and Maya, and is survived by his sister, Lydia (Chuck) and her children, dear family friend, Mark, and cherished friends around the globe.
