Alexander's obituary

Alexander “Alex” Drake Barnes, 38, of Boynton Beach, Florida, passed away May 30, 2019.

He was born in Weymouth, Mass., Nov. 4, 1980, and grew up in Hingham, Mass. He graduated from Hingham High School and went on to earn an Associates degree in Business Administration at Massasoit Community College. He also trained in auto-mechanics and studied culinary arts, given his love for cooking and grilling.

Alex settled down in Boynton Beach, where he resided for the last 5 years, adopted his dog Frizzy, and met his girlfriend Connie shortly thereafter. Like his father, he was a handyman and could build or fix almost anything and always loved a good challenge (especially when assembling toys for his nieces and nephews). He was an avid Boston sports fan, and loved cheering on the Patriots, Red Sox and Bruins. Most of all, Alex is remembered for his kind heart, witty humor and his dedication to his family and friends.

Alex, also known as "Buddy" and "PhilAl," was the loving and devoted son of Cheryl J. Barnes of Palm Beach, Fla.; brother of Gordon F. Barnes and his wife, Katie, of North Attleboro, Mass., and the cherished uncle of Mia, Lani, Benjamin and Matthew Barnes. Survivors also include his grandmother Lucille E. Stack, live-in partner and girlfriend Connie Small, and his treasured dog Frizzy.

His loving father, Lennox Drake Barnes 3rd, died earlier in 2016.

To fulfill his last wishes, the family is planning a celebration of life memorial for family and friends in the coming months. For details, contact Gordon Barnes at gordonfbarnes@gmail.com.
