Alexa's obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a deeply loved individual, Alexa Hopper. Born on September 28, 2016, Alexa left us far too soon on March 4, 2025. Her radiant smile, tenacity, and unwavering love for others will be remembered and missed by many.
Alexa is survived by her devoted parents, Melissa and Jason Hopper, her caring sister, Sophia Hopper, and her adoring grandparents, Davis and Debbie Hopper, Peggie McPeters, William Clayton, and great grandparents, Darrel and Pat Critchlow. Each of them held an incredibly special place in Alexa’s heart, their bond a testament to the love and care within their family. Alexa was preceded in death by her grandfather Shane McPeters.
Visitation and memorial services for Alexa will be held on April 6, 2025, at Asbury United Methodist Church located at 980 Hughes Rd. The visitation will start at 2:00 PM, followed by the memorial service at 3:00 PM.
Alexa was a cherished member of North Alabama Bringing Up Down Syndrome (BUDS) Community Club. She loved being a champion and a face for those with Down Syndrome; ensuring others with Down Syndrome also experience the love and support they deserve.
Alexa had an array of interests that brought her immense joy. She delighted in movies like Luca, The Greatest Showman, and Encanto. She was an avid fan of games, particularly Peek a Boo. Reading, swimming, and riding roller coasters were activities she loved. Her favorite vacation spots included the Smith Lake, Disney World, and the beach. Alexa also enjoyed playing in Miracle League T-ball and Epic Soccer.
Alexa was often found suckering anyone around her into reading her favorite books, which included The Wonky Donkey, One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish, and Pout Pout Fish. She loved music, frequently singing along to Taylor Swift, Baby Shark, and The Greatest Showman soundtrack. Little Einstein's was her much-loved TV Show.
Alexa was a beacon of determination. Although she was non-verbal, she found innovative ways to express her thoughts and desires. Her innate need to spread joy and uplift others was inspiring. She had a knack for making people smile, ensuring they never stayed upset around her for long.
The life lesson Alexa taught us was to love unconditionally; a lesson we will carry forward in her memory. Indeed, the world was a brighter place with Alexa in it, and her light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
