From the moment Alexa was born, she brought a kind of light into the world that touched everyone she met.

She had a way of making every room feel brighter just by being in it. Her smile could melt even the

hardest of hearts. Though she had down-syndrome, there was absolutely nothing down about her. One of

my favorite memories with her was during one of the most nervous days of my life. My wedding. The guys

were all in our room while the ladies were getting ready for the wedding, and Alexa came in wearing

pajamas, looking beautiful as always. On a whim, I picked her up and put her on my shoulders. She

grabbed the hair I had at the time and held on tight, bouncing her feet against my chest. While it was

just a small moment in a day full of moments, I still think back on that one brief encounter and it makes

me smile - along with many many more moments with her.

Alexa was more than a daughter and sister; she was a source of joy, inspiration, and love. Jason and Melissa,

you gave Alexa everything you had and more. Your hearts, your time, and all of your love. And to Sophia,

you were the best big sister anyone could have asked for. Your love for each other was boundless,

and Alexa’s spirit will always be with you. I've both witnessed and heard it said by multiple people

in different times how protective of Alexa you were. I've always admired that trait in you, as it would have

been so easy to ignore or dismiss hurtful words or actions. You faced them head on, which just goes to

show your character, and the upbringing that both Jason and Melissa instilled within you and Alexa.

Despite the challenges she faced, Alexa showed us what true courage is even at her young age. She faced each

day with a heart full of love and determination, teaching us all about the strength that lies within a

child’s heart. Alexa showed us the importance of patience, kindness, and embracing life no matter the obstacles.

Though Alexa’s time with us was far too short, she leaves behind an incredible legacy of love, joy, and

inspiration. Every day that she was with us, she taught us how to live more fully and love more deeply.

While we will miss her more than words can express, we can take comfort in knowing that her spirit will

continue to guide us. Alexa may no longer walk among us, but she will always remain in our hearts.

We find solace in knowing that she’s at peace, free from the struggles she faced in this world. Let us honor

her by carrying her love and light within us, sharing it with those around us, just as she did every day.
