Alex's obituary
Alex Rayzone Matthews, 64 of McLean IL, passed away Saturday, July 23rd 2022 at Carle Bromenn Medical Center in Normal, IL. Alex was born September 7, 1957 in Bloomington, IL.
He was proceeded in death by his parents Alex and Lavonne Matthews, his step father Quillian Garrett, two brothers, George Matthews, Colin Matthews and three sisters, Marita Matthews, Mary Matthews, Barbara Jean Vaught.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Diane (Scurlock) Matthews and three sisters, Rene Branton, Alecia Lane and Carmen Matthews.
Also surviving are three sons, Alex (Roxanne) Matthews, Adriel Matthews, Carl (Jacinda) Huffman and three daughters, Talaina Matthews, Tabitha (Dallas) Marshall and Christine (Lawrence) Andrist. Also 21 grandchildren, one great grandson and many nieces and nephews.
Alex worked at O’ Brien Honda (formally known as Brad Barker Honda) for 44 years as a Master Technician.
Alex's first passion was skating where he loved to share his passion with others by encouraging and teaching them to roller-skate. He also loved to fish, hunt, bowl and play softball. From a young age he built bicycles and developed a love for motorcycles, was a member of the "Goodfellas Motorcycle Club" and known to everyone as "Grandpa".
Alex had an infectious smile, outgoing personality, cared for everyone's best interest, and had a heart of gold. He was the definition of greatness and touched many lives. Through his family his legacy will live on, he will always be remembered and never be forgotten.
A celebration of life will be held August 6th from 3pm-8pm at the Skating Place 1704 S Morris Ave Bloomington, IL.
