Alecia was a friend when I needed one most, and she carried that trait through out her life. I think that's fairly obvious to anyone who was lucky enough to have known her.
There are so many stories I remember, mostly the ones if your parents don't know, then best they don't know now, either... However, I truly had the best time with her, in what was the worst time of my life, high-school.
She held my hand in friendship, giving me the ability to stand on my own two feet, find my voice and not be afraid of those who bullied me ruthlessly.
She literally said, "They have to go through me first, don't you worry I have your back". She meant that, and stood by it in every way. I don't ever remember her saying anything bad about anyone, but instead saying what maybe was wrong with them or how to see it from a different perspective.
She made silly things laughable, like the fact the first time I ever saw or ate Ramen soup was at her house. She thought I was insane... "Who doesn't know what Ramen is!!?" so she made it. I doubt I ever told her all these years later, but I think of her every time I make it.
She played match maker, by which I ended up marrying the guy she said, "Mandi I think he is the guy for you" even though I said, "Ooh, I don't know, I don't think he would like me" with my face scrunched up...
Obviously she was right...of course I had to not listen, like I typically do, and then regret that for twenty years, search endlessly before finding that guy again and making it happen...
Alecia always had the insight to know what someone needed, be it a friendship or dating to even saying the right words you needed to hear.
She was a true, genuine friend to me all those years ago and even though life happened and we weren't as close, I know she stayed true to the beautiful soul she is her entire life.
She has made a huge ripple, and a lasting mark in this world, Alecia will forever be deeply missed.
My love and prayers go to the family and friends who love her most.

I grieve with the family. Alecia was one of my best choir students. She had the voice of an angel, besides being so beautiful, both inside and out. I am honored that she was a part of my life, and that she touched so many others. The world was a better place with her in it. She shone like the brightest star. God bless you all.
