Albert's obituary
Albert Robert Odenath Jr., age 84, of Santa Ana, CA passed peacefully on May 4, 2024 at Willow View Gardens Assisted and Living Memory Care in Santa Ana, CA.
He was born on October 28, 1939 in Windmoor, Pennsylvania to his mother Anna Mae and father Albert Sr. The Odenath family came to Santa Ana, California in 1946. Al graduated from Santa Ana High School in 1958, where he started for the high school football team and later for Santa Ana Junior College. After serving in the Army Reserve in the early 1960s, he went on to contribute to the restaurant scene in Orange County, starting as a busboy with Far-west Services (at the Snack Shop) and working his way up to management. He helped open the Reuben E Lee, and owned Odies (a restaurant specializing in stuffed hamburgers) and the famous Ma Barker's family restaurants.
In addition to being a hardworking restauranteur, an adept horseman and a good t-ball coach, Al was a loving and devoted father. He’s remembered as charming and charismatic, with a wry sense of humor.
Al is survived by his daughter Lonnda (Brad), his sons Nick (Kari) and Todd (Danielle), his grandchildren Cece, Troy, Reese, Geneva, Liam, Aiden, his sister Ginnie (Ron) and his brother Steve (Linda), and his beloved horse, Frank. He was preceded by his mother and father, and the mother of his sons, Pamela.
A memorial service for Al will be held on July 6th at 11am, at Trabuco Canyon Community Church, 30121 Canyon Creek Dr, Trabuco Canyon, CA 92679. There will be light refreshments at the church to follow.
We deeply appreciate the warm efforts of Jonathan, Grace, and Hakim of Vienna Hospice in Al’s final hours, as well as Trident Society for the care and consideration during this time. We're pray for God's grace and peace for all who love and miss Al.
