Albert's obituary
Albert Neal Moffitt of Davie, Florida
1955 - 2024
Albert Neal Moffitt passed away peacefully on Jan. 12th, 2024 surrounded by his family. Although he left us too soon, he is at peace and no longer struggling with the diseases that challenged him.
Al was born in High Point, North Carolina in 1955 to Roxie and Paul Moffitt. Al often told stories about playing with his sister, Roxanne, and brothers, Stephen and Ken, including fond memories of sledding and being outdoors. As a child his family moved to Sunrise, Florida.
As a young adult, Al met Sharon through her brothers. Al and Sharon were married in 1978 and subsequently had three beautiful children. He loved spending time with Sharon, whether at home or traveling, as long as they were together. He was a doting father, and spoiled his children and grandchildren with time, support, and affection.
Al never met a stranger. He was a warm and caring husband, father, son, brother, brother in-law, uncle, friend, and Grandpa/Pepa. He enjoyed living close to his large family and spending time with them. He made many friends throughout his life, and loved them without judgement. Al gave of his time generously to friends and family, and was always the first person ready to help. He also enjoyed meeting new people everywhere he went including restaurants, airplanes, or while walking down the street. He was a people person who loved interacting with others. In addition to people, Al loved animals of all kinds and cared for a variety of pets throughout his life including many dogs, cats, parrots, and iguanas.
His sense of humor is something we will all remember. Al found the humor in everyday life and greatly enjoyed jokes and sarcasm. He loved comedy shows and movies, and cracking sarcastic jokes with friends and family. He loved telling jokes and often started laughing immediately after the joke reached the punch line. In hard times, he found humor comforting, and used it as a way to cheer up the people he loved.
Al worked hard as a Publix meat manager and also at home supporting his family. If he recognized a need, he went after it. When a friend or family member needed help, he was the first to volunteer. He enjoyed hard work, and found a sense of accomplishment in getting things done.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Paul and Roxie, his brothers, Stephen and Ken, and his Mother and Father in law Richard and Frances. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Moffitt of Davie Florida, son Michael Moffitt (daughter in-law Debbie Moffitt and grandsons Nate and Dylan Moffitt) of Stuart, Fl, his daughter Lauren Prinzo (son-in-law Elliott Prinzo and grandson EJ Prinzo) of Morgantown, WV, and his son Russell Moffitt (daughter in-law Erika Moffitt and grand-daughter Avery Moffitt) of Winter Park, Fl. He is also survived by his sister Roxanne Ackermann (brother-in-law Fred Ackermann and niece Amanda Ackermann) of Wilton Manors, Fl, his brother and sister in-laws (Richard and Carol Rhoads, Raymond and Joanna Rhoads, and Larry and Melody Rhoads), and a host of loving nieces and nephews.
Al lived a good life and was loved by many. There are no words to express how much he will be missed. His family will be hosting a celebration of life on Feb. 3rd, 2024 at Anne Kolb Nature Center from 1:00pm-4:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Al’s honor at: bit.ly/Alzheimers-Assoc-Moffitt
