Albert's obituary
We regretfully announce the passing of Albert "Bear" Dawkins, 63, of Oklahoma City, OK. Albert passed away on August 27, 2022 after contracting Covid following a surgery.
Albert was born to Silas Goodrich Dawkins and Betty Ann (Rumley) Dawkins in 1959 An independent and vibrant personality from the beginning, Albert was not a student or athlete, he was Bear. Albert was funny, and thoughtful, and mostly full of hot air. But he was deeply loved by everyone he spent time with. He met his first wife Kathleen at American Way Market on El Camino Avenue in Sacramento, CA. They soon welcomed a bouncing baby boy named David. David was adopted by loving family shortly before Kathleen's passing. Never one to give up on love Albert meet his second wife Mandy at Broderick Cafe in West Sacramento. Albert and Mandy were deeply devoted to each other until an unfortunate accident with a train placed Mandy in a care home, she passed away soon after.
Albert lived life on his own terms, a full and adventurous life indeed. It's not a fable, his amazing bike ride from Sacramento to Crescent City. The journey took him 8 months and the "grey dog" as he called it brought him back. That was just one of his amazing journeys. Albert is survived by his brother Edward Dawkins, sister in law Denise Dawkins and their children and grandchildren of Meridian, ID, sisters Ruth and Abbie of Redding, CA, and sister Betty, as well as their children and grandchildren, along with a clan of Welch's and O'Mary's that considered him family. He had a special relationship with his niece Ella who is a resident of Fayetteville, AK. A wonderful group of people made him welcome in Oklahoma City, OK, with close relationships forming between Albert and Michelle Fowler and Kent, who remained at his bedside through the final hours of his time on Earth. Those two people were the support system he enjoyed during his years living in Oklahoma. They went above and beyond the call of duty because Albert was Albert, a very special person indeed! Memorial Services will be held privately by the various groups. If you’d like to honor their legacy, please make a donation to No Boundaries International, 32 SW 42nd St., Oklahoma City, OK 73109 in Albert's name. I believe Albert found his 1969 Duster gassed up and ready to roll and he is flying down dirt roads like those in Lake County where he grew up radio blasting and the dust flying. You certainly brought the laughter brother, you will be missed!
