Alan's obituary
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Mr. Alan Wittenberg, born on July 2, 1949 to Harold and Verna Wittenberg, in Missoula MT. A man of great wit, intelligence, kindness, and who radiated interest in the world around him, Alan left an indelible mark in the hearts of those who knew him.
Alan is survived by his love, Jeanne Bowes, sisters ;Marisa Matter, Lori Woodruff, Leann Dauer, and his stepsons ;Seth, Tristan, and Trevor Dietz. He is also survived by many cherished cousins , an Aunt and Uncle,numerous nieces and nephews. Each of them will cherish their unique memories of Alan and continue to honor his life.
Known for his perseverance and thirst for knowledge, Alan's ideology was to always seek, learn, and grow. He championed the acquisition of knowledge through reading and research. His legacy will not just be his fascinating historical research and writings but also the wisdom imparted through them.
Alan's other activities and interests were music ,gardening and a love of cats. He played in rock bands, Intrepid and The Klassics.
Alan found community and true friendship in Asatrufolk Assembly, his writing group Throne Dynamics, The Cadre,Runes and others.
One of Alan's greatest accomplishments was his devoted role as a caregiver for his parents. He considered this role as an honor, showcasing his kindness and humble nature.
Alan's legacy will remain within his writings and most importantly in the memories filled with love and quiet kindness he leaves behind.
