Alan Ted Payton, 76 passed away at home on February 5th 2025. Alan was born on April 26th 1948 in Doddridge county, West Virginia. He was the son of the late Ancel and Gertrude (Siders) Payton.

After returning home from the Vietnam War, he met his late wife Rosetta Pearl (Cole) Payton in Rochester, New York. They later married on March 25th 1975 in Virginia.

In addition to his parents and his wife Alan was preceded in death by four brothers, Charles Edward, Glenn, Eugene, Russell Dwane. As well as three sisters, Carolyn Sue, Mary Louise, Kathryn Rose. Three nieces and a nephew and one great niece, all of West Virginia.

He retired from Liphart Steel in Verona Virginia in 2010 after 33 years as a saw operator. In his down time Alan enjoyed listening to old/classic country music, scratching lottery tickets and playing poker with his friends/family.

Survivors include a brother Dale and a sister Violet, and numerous nieces and nephews of West Virginia. Five children: Terri, Greg, Daniel, Colleen, and Kim. Nine grandchildren: GJ, Jared, Savannah, Megan, Daniel, Ben, Dalton, Shana, Sheena, and Chris. Four great-grandchildren: Kayleigh, Camden, Mackenzie, and Zayden.

There will be no formal services. There will a Celebration of Life held at a later date for close family and friends.
