Alan was my patrol partner at the California Highway Patrol. He taught me a lot. I miss him and know he is in heaven with the Lord. He was a great example to all.
It was an honor and a pleasure to have Alan for a friend and a neighbor.  We shared many hours together walking the neighborhood,  taking "tractor therapy", and talking politics, finance, life and religion.  We will continue to miss him, but we will continue to hear his voice in our hearts.

Dear Barbara & family,

Bill & I are so very sorry & sad to hear of Alan's passing! We know that he is in a more peaceful place in Heaven & that he is forever watching over you all! Your hearts will carry a big loss but the memories you all shared with him will live forever!  When I think of Alan I will always smile!!  Even though Bill's ALZ has affected his short term memory I know he can recall pranks he & Alan shared long ago in their younger days.....& he, too, will smile!

My sincerest condolences personally, and on behalf of Reasons to Believe (RTB). I got to connect with Alan a few years ago over the phone and what a blessing he was each time on the phone. As an integral part of our RTB community in the region, but also in his professional work, Alan represented and deeply cared for this ministry in ways that really reflected Christ. I can't say enough how thankful I am for the life that he led and the impact he had (and continues to have). He has left an indelible mark and we are all beneficiaries of the tremendous joy that brings amongst the sorrow of no longer having him in this life.

Dearest Barbara and Family,

Alan was such a special man and I enjoyed time spent with him as a Rotarian. He and all of you fought the good fight. I am grateful that he is now in a peaceful place. I know you must miss him terribly but have many memories of your lives together. With love, Karen White

When I think of my Uncle Alan there is always one very fond memory that comes to mind. He was quite the jokester. I will never forget the time he took my brothers and I through the woods on his little trailer hooked to his 4-wheeler. It was so fun, he had us giggling nonstop. I couldn't have been older than 6 or 7 years old.

This sly guy pulls the quad over and says "SHHHH! Keep quiet! Keep quiet! Look up on the ridge, there is a huge mountain lion up there. You can hardly see him, but he is there. He is camouflaged by the trees." Me being a naive young kid... I was spooked yet instantly exhilarated at the idea we were now on a mountain lion spotting safari excursion with my Uncle Alan.

We stayed in that spot for a few moments, and Uncle Alan floors it and says "we gotta get outta here, he is running down after us... HOLD ON!"

As we barely escape with our lives from this GIANT ferocious mountain lion. Uncle Alan parks the quad, turns around and says "pheewwww, that was a close one." I responded with something of admiring context like "well good thing you know how to drive a 4-wheeler like that". Me thinking he was the modern-day Indiana Jones, and I was Short Round. I should also mention I never actually saw this sharp toothed man eater that was chasing us. But I know they can be pretty elusive. So, he must have been chasing us from a higher ridge.

Years and years go by, and I retell this story to one of the older cousins Michael Leggieri, who was one of the 11 cousins including Rachel and Renee. Michael laughs sooooo hard and responds to me "Uncle Alan got you with the mountain lion?! Yeah, he got me too, and we barely made it out alive!"

Uncle Alan was a great storyteller, and he definitely knew how to reel you in. To this day, I am not sure how many of my cousins got chased by that same legendary beast in the woods. But I am sure glad I got to go on that ride with my Uncle Alan. Fictitious or not. Uncle Alan made it real, and it was awesome!

May God rest your soul Uncle Alan. I love you! Give Matthew and Gammy and big squeeze for me please!
