When I first met, Alan Duplex, was at his grandson‘s high school graduation. I had become friends with the family through his oldest daughter. He would always make me laugh, and he was always stern, but never cruel. The last time I spoke with him, was probably a few months before he passed. He was on speakerphone with me and his daughter, and we were asking his advice on how to set up the electronics for the boat Stereo system. He didn’t know I was there at first and then I said something in the background about him giving his advice and what he said, and he said “who’s there with you and she said it’s Julie. He said “oh great dumb, and dumber are working on the boat? “Oh no.”

He was always kind to me, and always asked me why I was still hanging out with the family, which I implied because I love you guys. He replied “ I don’t know why” with a half smirk on his face. His family misses him deeply, and I pray for them to feel better soon and that he, I know is watching over all of them and he is happy now with his mother who had passed before him. I feel honored to have known him . Rest in peace .

This was my father. I miss him every day. He was an enjoyable presence during my upbringing. Our family engaged in numerous activities together, and I believe my siblings—my sister and brother—and I experienced a fulfilling childhood. I could not have wished for a better father, mother, sister, or brother.

Sincerely,

The middle sibling, Erica

P.S. Father, would you recognize my name if I were to encounter you in heaven?
