Al's obituary
Alan Ernest Binder was born in Cleveland, Ohio August 16, 1961 to parents Ernest and Joan Binder. He passed away in his home in Castle Rock, CO on April 30, 2025.
He graduated from high school in Granby, Colorado and then later with an associates degree from Colorado Northwestern Community College in Rangely. He met his wife Deb in Bountiful, Utah while working as an air traffic control agent. They married in 1989. Later, they moved to Castle Rock and they worked for the United States Postal Service. Alan was a private pilot and avid motorcyclist. He and his wife, Deb, went on many cross-country road trips on their Harley Davidson. He was also an avid skier and traveled to Mary Jane many winter mornings to ski.
He was preceded in death by his wife Deborah Binder, and his father, Ernest Binder. He is survived by his step-son Andy (Merrie) Gillaspie of Iron River, Michigan and two grandchildren, Gatlin and Nikalas; his mother, Joan Binder of Denver, CO; his sisters, Kathleen Powell of Gunnison, CO, Laura Smith of Duluth, MN and Christine Edwards (Todd) of Aurora, CO.
He will be missed by all of his family and a large group of devoted friends and neighbors. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to any animal shelter and particularly to the Rangely Animal Shelter where Al and Deb adopted many of their beloved dogs.
