Alan's obituary

Alan Jay Ascher, 66, of Loxahatchee FL, passed away on September 23, 2020 caused by a tragic automobile accident in Loxahatchee, FL.

Alan was born on December 12, 1953 to Matilda and Harry Ascher in Brooklyn, New York, he lived with his family in Coney Island and attended PS 80, Mark Twain Middle and Lincoln High School .

He landed his first job as a bagel maker with Butch at Fort Lee Bagels in Ft. Lee, NJ, kicking off a 40 year career in the art of hand rolled bagels.

In 1975, he met Lisa in Brooklyn, they wed in 1979 and moved to Lake Hiawatha, NJ. going on to have 1 child, Jon Michael and worked with Butch at Bagel Inn in West Caldwell, NJ. Alan moved to Delray Beach, Fl in 1982 with his family and worked at Bagel Tree in Delray Beach, FL. Divorcing in 1985, he remainded a dedicated father to Jon and in 1988 returned to NJ to partner with Butch in Bagelicious, Rockaway, NJ. In 2017 he returned to Florida to live with Jon, and his grandchildren in Loxahatchee, FL

Alan spent his time working, spending time with friends, going fishing, playing poker with his buddies and playing with his grandkids. Even though he was a character, people thought he was a great guy and an endearing friend, his good natured silliness and ability to engage with people will be deeply missed by many.

Alan was predeceased by his parents Matilda and Harry Ascher of Coney Island and later Delray Beach, Fl.

He is survived by Jon Michael Ascher, Sr., (son), Marina Fasolo (daughter-in-law), Monica Ann Ascher, (granddaughter), Jon Michael Ascher, Jr. (grandson) of Loxahatchee, FL

Marilyn (sister) and Anthony (Butch) DiLauro, Adam DiLauro (nephew) of New Jersey
