Aimee's obituary
It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of Aimee Mancell Portillo, a remarkable woman of character, love, wit and intellect. Aimee was born on July 6, 1979, and left this world on December 28, 2023. Aimee is survived by her loving mother Sharon Portillo whom she was deeply devoted to as both daughter and best friend.
Aimee was a woman of sterling qualities - loving, caring, humorous, and loyal. She was protective of her loved ones and had a unique penchant for her mother’s healthy eating, earning her the affectionate moniker 'sugar nazi'. Her laughter was contagious, her spirit uplifting, and her jokes always had a knack for bringing a smile to anyone's face, even on the darkest days. Aimee has left an indelible mark on the hearts of all those who knew her.
Her wisdom and life lessons resonated with many, especially her mantra of not taking life too seriously. Aimees perspective enabled her to find joy, laughter, and positivity in every situation. If you sat in the corner beware as she found you and dragged you onto the dance floor. Aimee was an avid swing dancer, a musical aficionado, and just all around glamorous starlet. Anybody that knew her knew her love of Disney!; You could always count on her boundless knowledge of the history and secrets of her beloved park. You mention a song, she would rise to the occasion and sing it, and with dance moves.
Intellectually, Aimee was no less remarkable. She earned her Bachelor's degrees in Political Science and Anthropology, an achievement that testified to her intellectual prowess, boundless curiosity, and unfaltering dedication to the written word. Her accomplishments in her fields were substantial, and she used her knowledge to not only better herself but also motivate and educate others.
Aimee Portillo's memory will be cherished by all who had the fortune to know her. Her spirit, life lessons, and love for all will continue to inspire those left behind, as we reflect upon the beautiful life she led. Her absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, but her presence in our lives was a gift we will always treasure.
