Adelaide's obituary

Adelaide Grace Corrigan of Roswell, GA died on April 11, 2021 at CHOA Scottish Rite in Sandy Springs, GA, in the arms of her mother and father. Adelaide, or “Addy” as her family and friends called her, fought a rare genetic disease called I-Cell (Mucolipidosis II) for all her short life of six years.
Adelaide is survived by her loving mother, Sarah Mary Corrigan, and father, Peter James Corrigan. She was especially close to and adored by her brothers Benjamin Ward and Wyatt James. Her aunts, uncles and cousins all cherished her, as did her grandparents Ward Wright (“Pops”), James Corrigan (“Pop-Pop”), Cheryl Wright (“Grammie”) and Roseanne Corrigan (“Nonna”), who made her feel like the center of the universe.
Adelaide radiated love and joy. She touched every heart she encountered, including her many neighbors, doctors, nurses, therapists and even people that happened to catch her eye at a restaurant or store. Her contagious laugh (cackle) and beautiful big smile left lasting impressions.
Adelaide met the many hardships she faced head on and with enthusiasm. Her will to live combined with her unrivaled strength made for many miraculous recoveries from near death experiences. In approaching every moment with gratitude, she turned unimaginable challenges into great gifts. Hospital stays became a chance to inspire and create lasting friendships. Physical limitations were opportunities to create her own ingenious ways to mobilize (“Addy scoot”) and communicate through “Addy speak”, gestures, bells and dancing. She was a living, breathing lesson on appreciating the many messy and complicated layers of life and the beauty in the unplanned. Those who knew her are forever grateful for the mark she left on their hearts.
