Tribute to Adebimpe Saudat Adedoyin
Inna lilahi wah inna ilahyi rajeun
The news of her passing was a painful blow. but Allah knows best .
It's unfortunate we looked forward to meeting, but never got the chance to meet physically. "Ti mbati de ile ma wa salamo si eyin ati abu" was what she'd say. She was heavy in character and had a big heart; you couldn't help but smile, reflect, and feel joy whenever you heard from her.
The unique part is that hearing from her didn't necessarily mean she was reaching out directly, but also through her experiences and faith-based daily nuggets disseminated via her WhatsApp statuses.
My first encounter with Adebimpe was when I reached out about a property. We had the usual interview session, and considerations were met. She had mentioned that her soft spot for fellow Muslims informed her decision. Three things stood out for me during this encounter: her straightforwardness, bubbly charisma, and most importantly faith in ALLAH.
You could tell she wasn't intrigued by worldly whims but focused on doing what was right by her Maker. We received gifts from her after moving in, and every conversation felt like family.
"My landlady, how are you?"
"Please don't call me that; I own nothing. Call me Obimpey or Umm Abdulrahman",
"O ok Obimpey baby, how are you today?"
"Yes, you garrit!!"
She even convinced me to join a group, and I'm still part today.
That's the type familiarity that was developed within a short period. She was a silent influencer; seeing her daily posts on faith, giving, helping those in need and interactions with people, especially family, made you want to emulate her.
When my dad died, she was among the first to reach out. I missed her call but then she sent a voice note.I responded via text telling her to make sure she prayed for my dad as i considered her a prayer warrior; she said to pray for hers too as prayers were never too much. Her prayers were always deep, encouraging, and weighty.
"Eru Allah Saabata," she'd call herself. I'm still amazed by the impact of her kindness, warmth, and encouragement without meeting physically.
I looked forward to meeting her; I planned to shock her with the tightest hug, thanking her for all she did.
She prayed we'd be neighbors in Aljannah. May Al Mujeeb, please make it so,so that I can give her that hug.
Ya Allah, Ya Rabb,
Grant Adebimpe Saadat Adedoyin Aljannah Firdaus without reckoning. Have mercy on her soul, forgive her sins, expand her grave, and surround her with good company. May her kindness and sincerity weigh heavy on her scales.
Ya Wakil, comfort and care for those she left behind, fill their hearts with peace, and give them unwavering faith in Your mercy. Make her legacy live on, her children greater than she was, and make them sadaqah jariyah for her. Ameen.
