Abel's obituary
Abel was born in North Kona and grew up in Lana’i City. He entered the US Marine Corps in 1975 and honorably discharged on March 14, 1980. In 2019 he retired from Hawaiian Airlines after 33 years of service.
Abel is survived by his wife of 15 years, Myrni Mendes. Abel is also survived by daughters Emily Freeman, Jessica Barbosa(Clayton) and Chelsea Ganer-Loh(Angela). Grandchildren Gannon, Gage, Charlotte and Drake. Brothers and sisters Hano Ganer(Charmaine), Anacita Murphy(Stephen) Anna Ganer(Dean), Kimo Ganer and Lanai Eskaran(Martin). Abel was predeceased by parents Alfredo Ganer and Kahala Haleamau and sister Kathy Ritchey.
A drive through memorial service will be held on February 11th, 2021 from 8am-9am at West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery. A private service and burial will follow.
The family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to American Cancer Society or North Hawaii Hospice in memory of Abel Ganer.
