Abby's obituary

Abby Elaine Sanders was born in Great Falls, Montana on November 27, 1950. She passed away on January 2, 2025 in Murrieta, CA.

Her family moved to California when she was a small child. Abby grew up in Southern California with her three sisters and graduated from Venice High School. She began her college education at UCLA.

Abby married Gary Sanders in 1987 and had a son, Jason. A very loving wife and mother, she completed her education after she and Gary raised their son and sent him to college. Abby achieved her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at University of Redlands. She went on to career as an Educator and Counselor, at one time being employed at four school districts simultaneously before settling in at Menifee School District in her hometown. She enjoyed teaching and helping her students.

Affectionately known as Auntie Abby, she loved and was loved by her many nieces and nephews. When Jason and his wife Jennifer had their two children Abby became a proud and loving grandmother, Nana, to Isabelle and Oliver, the absolute joys of her life.

Abby fought strong and bravely against Stage IV liver cancer and related illnesses. Never having self pity, she instead said “I’ll do whatever it takes” to fight.

Abby is preceded in passing from this life by her parents Sara Rachel and Herb Bernstein, sister Marsha, and brother in law Dr. Allan Goodman.

She is survived by her husband Gary, son Jason, daughter-in-law Jennifer, grandchildren Isabelle and Oliver, sisters Lori Goodman and Deborah Schein, brother in law Jeffrey Schein, and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
