Aaron's obituary

With broken hearts and great sorrow, the family of Aaron Holcomb announces his passing on March 14th, 2024.

Aaron Blake Holcomb was born on November 30th, 1984 to Grace C. Holcomb and Paul David Holcomb in Victoria, Texas.

For twenty years Aaron dedicated himself to the retail industry. While living and working in Houston, Aaron was the Product Manager at Kroger. Aaron was an enthusiastic, committed and hard worker with exceptional skills. He was very proud of being the best performer on and for his team day in and day out.

He is survived by his mother, Grace C. Holcomb (Wes Compton) of Victoria; sister, Destinie Rose Holcomb Mir (Shahid) of Round Rock; father, Paul David Holcomb of Victoria; grandparents Renett Rose Parkan Holcomb of Victoria & Dora Lee Munoz of San Antonio.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Billy Lee Holcomb & Mark G. Munoz and great-grandparents Frank & Rose Parkan and Reyes & Petrocinia Hernandez.

If you were lucky enough to know Aaron, you'd understand the depth of his character. He was a brilliant mind, confident and optimistic, the funniest guy in the room, charismatic, a source of joy and laughter. No matter what life threw his way, he faced it with unwavering confidence and a head held high. Those who never had the chance to meet him truly missed out on someone extraordinary – a loyal friend, a pillar of support, and a man who brought warmth and love to the people he cared for.

Aaron was a wealth of knowledge and knew so much about everything. Aaron started speaking at a very young age and had an excellent vocabulary early on. His love for books, comics, anime and movies/documentaries made his already stellar vocab even greater throughout his life.

You could talk to him about anything, or…nothing at all, almost like one of his favorite shows, Seinfeld...where it is described as "a show about nothing", often focusing on mundane situations of daily life. Aaron was a great listener, a comedic relief and solution-focused serious man, when he needed to be.

Growing up Aaron trained in Kung Fu and carried the love for Mixed Martial Arts from a young age up to the present day. If he wasn’t training, you could catch him at the nearby comic book store Goldmine, close to his childhood home or swimming at the Shenandoah Pool every summer with his sister, Destinie and cousins, Ashlene and Majella.

Aaron also enjoyed checking out local music shows in his youth. His taste in friends mirrored his eclectic taste in music – he enjoyed a wide variety of people, just like he enjoyed everything from the aggressive sounds of metal shows to the ethereal beauty of Sigur Ros to the cynical wit of Morrissey.

After graduating high school Aaron was accepted into Texas A&M Corpus Christi but declined to attend at that time, instead enrolling in Victoria College. Aaron kept friendships that lasted decades. He even ended up being best man to his childhood friend from 3rd grade. He was able to travel out of state by himself to Maryland, California and Washington for pleasure. He was pictured at Snoqualmie Falls, a beautiful waterfall with The Great Northern Hotel in the background, which is known for the location on Twin Peaks, another one of Aaron’s favorite shows.

Aaron also loved the LA Lakers and sat 3rd row with his sister for a playoff game. He admired Kobe Bryant and was influenced greatly by his mentality, strength and confidence.

He eventually made a significant personal and professional transition relocating from Victoria to Houston in pursuit of a new, thriving community and a richer environment that he had always wanted. There he advanced in his career and grew closer to a more multi-ethnic culture that excited him.

Recently, Aaron was most proud of the computer he and his friend Brian built and his ability to speak Japanese. Although he was still learning, he was able to communicate well with others. He was an enthusiastic follower of MMA/UFC, Korean films and a master of fighting games. Aaron was passionate about constant self improvement, ideas, and was investing and excited to make a possible career change into the tech world.

Aaron was so proud of his heritage from both sides, Czech Republic & Western European to Eastern Mexico & Spain. An admirer of many cultures and their unique differences, Aaron was especially drawn to Asian culture the most. Aaron always talked about living and retiring in Japan one day. A lover of philosophy, he found inspiration in Shinto, a Japanese religion that emphasizes living in harmony with nature and respecting tradition. This philosophy resonated with him deeply.

Those who knew Aaron will remember him for his intelligence, optimism, and infectious sense of humor. Aaron left an indelible mark on everyone he met. He was a loyal friend, a supportive brother, and a loving son.

His absence leaves a huge hole that will never be filled, but his memory will live on through the laughter he shared, the knowledge he imparted, and the passions he stirred in others. May his legacy continue to inspire always and may He rest in eternal peace.
