Reviews for Brookdale Hospice Austin
Stacy Sass — I wanted to thank Brookdale Hospice for the care and services provided for me and my loved one during our difficult time. Right up to the time of her passing, Brookdale Hospice and it's several attendants to our case, most admirably our home care nurse Craig, were both compassionate and professional. I am a big proponent of hospice care and can highly recommend Brookdale Hospice.

Suzanne Matthews — When I first met the intake personnel, I was very impressed and decided to sign up with them - for my husband - because he was already at Brookdale Westlake. Their statement that using their hospice care would result in more “seamless” care for my husband, that there would be more “eyes”making certain he was getting the care he needed. I did not find that to be true. In fact, I found very little communication between the hospice branch and the assisted living facility. For example, one weekend my husband vomited several time during the night. The facility did not notify anyone of this event - not hospice, not me. The next morning, when I came to see him, I had to become quite insistent that the facility find something, e.g., chicken broth, for him to eat. It took several layers of management before someone finally agreed that that could be provided without doctor’s order. When it came to the end of life, my experience with them was also not good. The hospice nurse kept insisting that he wasn’t suffering when he was obviously struggling. Now, to add insult to injury, I find that there is a past due balance on his drug coverage although he had Medicare Part D. First, the facility did not forward any bills to me and second, apparently the hospice nurse had put a flag on the prescription saying to bill the client. I have no idea why she did that and the bill is over $200. Now, since it is past 30 days, I am having to go through the stress of having to bill the insurance myself. In short, I did not find either Brookdale Westlake Assisted Living or Brookdale Hospice to be helpful or good.
