Overview from the hospice

Partners In Care is proud to be Central Oregon’s only independent, non-hospital based, not-for-profit home health and hospice organization. We’ve been certified by Medicare to offer Home Health services since 1986 and Hospice services since 1979. Combining both services allows us to offer the most comprehensive home care in Central Oregon. In most cases, our patients have the unique option to keep the same organization and care-giving team as their health conditions change. This continuity of care is a hallmark of the Partners In Care experience.

  • What is the history of your hospice?

Over thirty years ago, a small group of volunteers in Central Oregon became the first to deliver a unique method of giving care to patients with life-limiting illnesses. Their vision was influenced by a growing movement of holistic, end-of-life care gaining popularity in Europe, and they embraced the philosophy of Dame Cicely Saunders, the founder of the modern hospice movement. Her principles included treating the whole person while focusing on the patient and family at the center of the caregiving circle – a philosophy we continue to honor today.

That vision, along with a few volunteers and ten patients, has grown into Partners In Care – a vibrant, growing organization now serving four counties and thousands of residents annually.

Partners In Care is proud to be Central Oregon’s only independent, non-hospital based, not-for-profit home health and hospice agency. Our community’s trust and continued financial generosity in support of our mission and work allowed us to realize a dream in 2003 when we opened the doors to our free-standing Hospice House. This in-patient facility is available to any hospice patient in the region.
