Bronwyn Larsen — The nurses and doctors were great, Victoria the nurse was very sweet and compassionate. The reason for the two star rating is that if you happen to need anything from them in between scheduled visits, don't count on whoever answers the phone to relay your concerns or have any bedside manner whatsoever.... Read more The woman who usually answers the phone was an absolute rude and inconsiderate fool on more than a few occasions. The last of the times being when my father passed.. We called to inform them so they can pronounce him dead and take the next steps and my mother gives the his name and states he has passed, she had to say it to the lady three times. The woman says in the rudest tone," so, what exactly is your concern?" ... No excuse for someone in this field to speak the way she does to patients and their loved ones in such rough times.
That was the last experience we had with her but not the only.. I work in the health field and would never interact with patients and family in such a manner on my worst day, let alone with those dealing with terminal illness and death.-that behavior and lack of compassion is unacceptable.
Ok, so I have some updates, the night my step father passed, a nurse was sent out to declare the death, remove catheter, destroy any narcotic medications and call the funeral home/mortuary and make the arrangements for the family and clean him up. ( those are expected and standard procedures provided via any hospice care provider) the gentleman nurse shows up, declares the death and removes his catheter and calls the funeral home but doesn't have any of the information he is supposed to provide- not even the phone number of the hospice doctor. He doesn't clean the body whatsoever, just covers him with a sheet. He asks for the remaining morphine but says he needs to destroy it in a diaper, and pour bleach over it... We offered the diaper but had no bleach so he doesn't bother destroying the medication at all and just takes it with him when he leaves a few minutes later... May be nothing, but as a health care provider, seems a bit suspicious but whatever..
So nearly five days have passed, we get a call from the cremation facility and are told they still can't even start the cremation or paperwork to start because the hospice doctor has still not signed off in the death certificate.. Read less
