The Sandstone Event Center is owned and operated by the Caney Valley Historical Society. This beautiful sandstone building is one of the first structures built in Caney, and is over 150 years old. It sits next to the Potts Funeral Home, and is a great place to hold family dinners, visitations, memorials and other events. There is a kitchen with microwave and fridge, but no stove. We have other options available if food prep is needed. There is ample room for visitors in the main room with gorgeous, original sandstone walls, and plenty of on-street parking. How do I reserve the Sandstone Event Center?
Go to our website: Caneyhistoricalmuseum.org and check the calendar for availability. If your date is available, you can book and pay online using PayPal, credit card (via PayPal) or Venmo. Your reservation will be confirmed quickly so you can let friends and family know your plans.

Is there anything else that people should know about the space?
Rental of this historic building helps support the Caney Valley Historical Society. Alcohol is permitted, but only inside the building. We will work with you to make your event as easy - and special - as possible.

What are the costs to hold a memorial event at Sandstone Event Center?
There are several options available, which you can see on our website: Caneyhistoricalmuseum.org. They range from $75 for 2 hours up to $300 for 24 hours. All rentals are set up with tables and chairs for the number needed. The best value is our 24-hr Package. It will allow for visitation one evening, and family lunch or reception the following day - up to 24 hrs. The package includes providing disposable plates, silverware, napkins and cups. It also does not require any cleanup after the event. Other rental items, which are also on our website, such as a sound system with wireless mic, drink dispensers, a podium, etc. are FREE with this package. This stress-free option allows everyone to walk in, enjoy the event, and walk out - and it is discounted to $275 from the regular 24hr rate.

How many people can attend a memorial event at Sandstone Event Center?
Capacity is 85 persons, but there is room outside on the sidewalk for overflow if needed.

What types of memorial events can you accommodate?
All types of memorial events are welcome. This is a public rental space, so you can create your own event using your own pictures, items, flowers and other items.
