Walnut Lawn Funeral Home, Ltd. - DeGraffenreid-Wood-Crematory is a local family-owned full service funeral home and crematory that offers burials, cremations, services large and small, and a reception area for families to gather for a meal or reception. Our crematory is onsite in our facility.
Our services include full traditional burials, cremation and memorial service packages, direct burial, and green burial, as well as personalization for all services.
We are regarded as the veterans funeral home in this area. For our appreciation for the service of our veterans, we offer discounted service prices.
Our family and funeral director team are here to take care of all the details so families are able to start on their grief journey to heal. We are able to plan funerals locally, as well as travel to all parts of the US to direct funerals so that your loved one stays in our direct care, take care of the arrangements for someone to be transported to another part of the country or world, as well as plan for international services.
We have a convenient preneed program, to help ease the emotional and financial stress for families. Leave one of the best gifts to your family, having your burial plans already in place. Planning may be done and payment plan placed to freeze prices for services. Our Preneed and Bereavement Guide is available on our website to assist with this process. Our community service outreach includes our own Live Well Silver and Gold Club, annual candlelight memorial service, and other programs throughout the year.

What is the history of Walnut Lawn Funeral Home?
Walnut Lawn Funeral Home, Ltd. was founded by the Wood and DeGraffenreid families in 1989. Prior to founding Walnut Lawn Funeral Home, the Wood family owned and operated Wood Funeral Home in Hartville, MO, where they also raised their three children - all licensed funeral directors.
Walnut Lawn Funeral Home was founded on the principles of providing high quality and respectful funeral services through "Tender Moments - Tender Care" by "Our Family Serving Your Family."
Walnut Lawn Funeral Home is one location, conveniently located at the corner of Walnut Lawn St and Kansas Expressway.
In 1993, the Wood family became the sole owners of Walnut Lawn Funeral Home. An onsite crematory was added in 2013. In 2018, Dr. Ruth Ann, daughter of Bobby and Ruth Wood, founders, became the second generation owner of the funeral home. Her son, Gabe Humiston, joined her in 2021 as a preneed agent, and the third generation to work in the family funeral home business. There are plans in place for Cherished Pets Funeral Home and Crematory, a new, one-of-a-kind pet crematory and funeral home in this Springfield area, to be opened in 2024/2025 - to further serve our cherished family pets. This will be operated by Dr. Ruth Ann's husband, Richard.
Along with the Wood-Humiston family, there is a wonderful, compassionate, professional team of directors and support staff who are at Walnut Lawn Funeral Home to honorably serve the Springfield area community.
