Overview from the death doula

My name is Jade Adgate and I am a Death Midwife. The heart of my work is companionship. I walk alongside the dying and the grieving within my community. In fellowship, we tend to your death and grief. In farewell, I hold you and your loved ones in warmth and compassion, every step of the way. Together, we restore integrity to the sacred unfolding of death and grief as we remember how to tend our selves holistically and contemplatively.

I offer death midwifery services, end of life planning, death doula education, community death care education and grief support. I also curate a death-focused resources space called the Farewell Library and facilitate a virtual book club to engage in conversations around death and grief.

  • How much experience do you have in your field?

I have been a hospice volunteer since 2018 and completed my End of Life Doula training with INELDA in January of 2020. I have also completed Perinatal Loss Training, Compassionate Bereavement Training and Grief Immersion for Death Workers. I am a member of NEDA, INELDA and NHFA.

  • What is your fee structure and pricing?

I offer both package and hourly rates. My basic (40-hour) Death Midwifery Package is $3800 and my hourly rate is $100/hour.

  • What can families expect when working with you?

Let's first chat over the phone or Zoom for a free 20 minute consultation to see how I can best serve your needs. If you hire me for death midwifery services, I will visit the dying person once a week in the early months of the dying process. During this time, I get to know you and your unique situation, make sure your advance directives are in order, discuss comfort and care wishes with you and guide some conversations about your end of life goals and fears. I am available via text and email during work day hours to my clients.

As we approach active dying phase, I become available to my client in 7-hour shifts and am available by phone and text 24-hours a day. I also offer bereavement support visits to the families I serve.

If your needs differ from the above scenario, please reach out. Each journey is unique and my work reflects that.

Advance Care Planning, Vigil Support, Respite Care, Home Funeral Guidance, Death Doula Education, Grief Support
