Overview from the death doula

Hi I'm Rachel, a Death Doula and End of Life Planner serving the dying and their loved ones in the Greater Tulsa area, and virtually across the country. My goal as a death doula is to ensure you have all the support you need to have a good death. Dying is the event of a lifetime! We should prepare and plan for it like we do for all of life's milestones.

Frequently asked questions

Answered by Good Grief Planning

  • Do you offer services for The Living?

Yes! Death work is for everyone, and the more planning we do for our deaths the easier it is on ourselves and our loved ones when we die. I offer pre-planning work sessions, accountability, living funerals, ritual creation, and much more!

  • Do you support Pet Deaths?

Pet loss is every bit as real as the loss of a human loved one, and the impact and grief can be just as deep. Just like our the humans in our lives, it can be very hard to know how to support a pet on an end of life journey. I am here to help you and your companion through that process.

  • Do you provide support to families in lieu of the dying?

I prefer to work directly with the dying person, however if this is not possible I am also able to support the family and loved ones of the dying person as they walk with them on their death journey.

  • Do you have an office?

The nature of my work requires that I travel from site to site frequently to visit my clients, so I do not have a primary office location. I am happy to suggest an in person meeting spot, meet you at your home or the care facility, or any location you suggest.

I also support clients in a hybrid in person/remote model so I can be supportive of as many schedules as possible. This also allows you to bring long distance loved ones into your end of life journey if desired.

  • How much experience do you have in your field?

I have been a hospice volunteer for 3 years, and a Death Doula for 2 years.

  • What is your fee structure and pricing?

$75/hr with long term support packages and sliding scale available.

  • What can families expect when working with you?

Families who work with me can expect, kind, compassionate, non-medical end of life support for themselves, and their dying person. Together, we will ensure the dying person is centered in their death, that their end of life journey is supportive and comfortable, and that time and space is made for the "big work" of death. Dying folks have a lot of work to do internally before they die, as a death doula I support and enable that work so the dying experience is meaningful for everyone.

  • What services do you specialize in?

End of Life pre-planning services, paperwork and documentation organization, resource identification, caregiver respite, Death Doula packages, vigil organization and sitting, 11th hour doula assistance, funeral planning, ritual creation, legacy and life review.
