Frequently asked questions

Answered by Anna Brown Massey

  • How much experience do you have in your field?

I am a trained death doula through Going With Grace End-of-Life Training, with direct experience supporting individuals and families through end-of-life and after-death situations. This includes bedside presence during active dying, participation in real-time care decisions, and support with immediate post-death logistics such as funeral planning and coordination of next steps.

My practice is further informed by a professional background in education, facilitation, and the arts, where I have worked extensively in high-trust, emotionally complex environments requiring clarity, steadiness, and strong interpersonal awareness. I bring this combined experience to supporting families with both the practical and relational dimensions of dying, including communication, coordination, and the translation of wishes into action.

  • What is your fee structure and pricing?

I offer both hourly support and flat-rate packages based on the scope and intensity of care. I begin with a consultation to understand the situation, the level of support needed, and what kind of presence or coordination will be most helpful.

From there, I provide a clear care plan and pricing structure with options based on the type and duration of support involved, ensuring expectations are transparent and aligned before services begin.

  • What can families expect when working with you?

Families can expect steady, clear support throughout the end-of-life process. I help organize information, support conversations between family members, and assist with planning so that decisions feel more manageable and less overwhelming.

I pay close attention to what is being said and what is not being said, and I help translate that into practical next steps. My role is to bring clarity, structure, and consistent presence during a time that can feel uncertain or emotionally intense.

  • What services do you specialize in?

I specialize in end-of-life planning and death doula support, including advance care planning, bedside presence, home vigils, and after-death support for families. My work often includes guiding conversations, clarifying wishes, and supporting both the practical and emotional aspects of the dying process. I am trained through Going With Grace End-of-Life Training and am comfortable supporting situations with complex family or relational dynamics.
