The cemetery is part of the larger Circle Sanctuary Nature Preserve, which is dedicated to conservation and research of the environment. Additionally, the cemetery is one of the few in the United States that is dedicated to serving those of Pagan and Nature religions. Those interred at Circle Cemetery include veterans, Pagans, loved ones of Pagans, and others who wished to be at rest in a place embodying peace and natural beauty.
