DJ Unavailable — I have a lot of family members buried in Locust Hill, My Mom, My Grandparents (Mom's Mother and Father), a few Aunts and Uncles, Cousins, family friends, extended family, etc.. Even though my wife and I now live a few states away, I do still visit a few times each year on Birthdays, Anniversaries... Read more and Holidays and I will say that while they do mow regularly and it IS kept up much better than many other cemeteries I've been in, their grounds-keeping could be much, much better and more thorough! I have relatives with both above ground and flat on the ground headstones and many of my relative's stones are starting to sink in or tilt/lean and just about all of them were covered by dirt/grass/leaves/weeds upon my most recent visit! They also have a few stupid rules! Real flowers are OK to leave, yet artificial flowers that would last longer are not, they also prohibit leaving any type of, what they call "decorations" and will throw away anything you leave, so don't bother leaving anything expensive! And WTF does it matter what we leave? We PAY for those plots! In most other countries it's considered sacrilege to throw away gifts for the dead! Throwing items left for our deceased family members is so not cool! I was just there where I met up with my adult Son's and Daughter-In-Law's to visit the family for Mother's Day (2025), one nearby grave is only HALF filled with large chunks of red clay! I almost stepped backwards into it! Is it really THAT hard to fill a hole, flatten it and keep it, well, flat? The grounds are getting very lumpy/wavy in there and while some plot's are very sunken in, some are becoming a bit bumped up, so be careful of the many trip hazards when you walk through! A few of my family's plots looked sad, as did a few of their surrounding "neighbors", some of whom were family friends/extended family! My son's and I took it upon ourselves to clear off a few dozen headstones and graves and picked up trash that was blowing around. They really need to rake, aerate the soil and over-seed more, it would only make it look much better! One cool thing is that every time I have ever gone to visit my family, since I was a young man way back in 1976 when my Grandmother was buried in there, I ALWAYS seem to see Eagles flying over from Spring to Autumn!. I need to remember on my next trip out there to bring a can of copper/brass polish, as my families stones have become very tarnished and oxidized. My Grandmother's flower holder was also very stuck in the mud and packed with mud, we managed to fix that. My Grandfather's cup was missing (used to be one at his plot) and they still have not installed one at my Mother's grave and she passed on five years ago already and I know my siblings and I paid for one to be there! My Mom LOVED flower's, but just leaving a bunch on the ground looks bummy! I will need to bring and install my own in-ground flower holder's on my next visit as well. One other thing, a few of the entrance's on the side streets are permanently chained and padlocked and have been that way for many decades and are never opened, so you can only enter through the main front entrance or the rear gate. The car paths are also somewhat narrow, so please, do try to pull over (without hitting anyone's headstones) as far as you can when you park, so others can fit by when they drive past your vehicle! Some stones are VERY close to the roads! When we all met up there, my son's informed me that they had witnessed some senseless woman, one who probably shouldn't be allowed to drive, backed right into someone's stone while attempting to fit passed some other parked vehicles (not any of ours) just before I arrived! Glad the stone she hit wasn't knocked over, also glad it wasn't any of my relatives plots! The view of the surrounding mountains is still as beautiful now as it was 50 years ago, only difference now is that houses have been built on the sides of some of those mountains. Also seems like there are far less tree's on the grounds then there once were. Just enjoy your visit and help keep it clean. Read less
